Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400: Smart scale with 25 health indicators gets global launch

Last fall, Xiaomi launched the Mijia S400, a new smart scale, onto the Chinese market. Now, a global launch is on the horizon. The Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 has recently been listed on the manufacturer's global website.

As usual, this does not yet reveal availability or price, but at least announces a sales launch outside Xiaomi's home market, where the Mijia S400 costs just 99 yuan, which is the equivalent of around $14. When the Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 comes to Europe and the US, it will certainly be a little more expensive. For example, the RRP for the Mi Body Composition Scale 2 is just under $50.

According to the manufacturer, the Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 measures a total of 25 indicators relating to body composition and health via dual-frequency bioelectrical impedance. Device instructions state that the electrical impedance values of intracellular and extracellular fluids can be accurately measured using high and low dual-frequency alternating currents. With a single measurement, the smart scale provides values such as weight, pulse, BMI, water content, body fat percentage, muscle mass, bone mineral content and visceral fat percentage. However, it is unclear just how accurate the measurement results are, as the Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 is not a medical device.

The smart scale from Xiaomi is said to weigh accurately to the nearest 0.1 kg in a range of 0.1 to 150 kg and can store information for up to 36 people. A baby holding mode for weighing babies and pets as well as a guest mode are also on board. The measured values can be conveniently managed via Bluetooth using the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app. Lastly, Xiaomi specifies the battery life as 180 days.
