Withings Body Pro 2 launches as the world's first weight scale with LTE modem and early diabetes detection
Just like the Withings Body Smart, the Withings Body Pro 2 collects data on weight and, thanks to the BIA sensor, on body fat, muscle and skeletal percentage. But the Body Pro 2 goes far beyond these metrics, as the scale can also determine the electrodermal activity value.
These measurements allow for the possible detection of diabetic peripheral neuropathy at an early stage, one of the first complications of diabetes. This feature is activated via a module that is initially only available with a doctor's prescription. According to Withings, the functionality of the Body Pro 2 will be customizable in the future with additional modules to make the monitoring of chronic diseases easier.
Unlike most Withings scales, the Body Pro 2 does not utilize Bluetooth or WiFi, but an integrated LTE modem, which allows doctors to set up the scale for their patients so that it works right out of the box without first having to connect to an app or network. This constant internet connection also allows doctors to show messages for their patients on the scale display. To reduce anxiety when weighing, the Body Pro 2 can be configured so that the weight is not displayed during use.

Withings is yet to confirm details on the price and availability of the Withings Body Pro 2; the smart scale will be marketed primarily to healthcare organizations and physicians who intend to use the scale to monitor their patients' health parameters.
