Fitbit: New software update following user criticism, now also supports the Pixel Watch

Fitbit has made extensive changes to the Fitbit app as part of a new software update, for which the company says that it took particular notice of user feedback. What sounds like a positive thing and is ultimately to be welcomed, however, has a wider context: the redesign of the app in September 2023 received a great deal of criticism that, according to observers, went far beyond the inevitable criticism that is associated with any kind of change.

According to Fitbit, the new update introduces several improvements and new functions to the app. For example, there is now a battery indicator that shows the remaining battery capacity of the apps in percentage terms. The Pixel Watch is now also supported in this regard. Users who have achieved their daily step goal will also be praised in the app, but this feature will not be rolled out for iOS users until the beginning of January 2024.

Furthermore, the step goal streaks are coming back. This allows users to easily keep track of how many days they have been meeting their step goal, which could certainly motivate them to keep up their walks. Fitbit also points out once again that users can set a focus for personal fitness development, which affects the ads on the central Today screen. This allows users to choose whether the quality of sleep should also be displayed or whether the distance covered or the steps should be shown.
