Xiaomi has introduced a new smart scale, the Xiaomi Mijia Body Composition Scale S200, which reportedly comes with additional functions and is not just intended to be used solely as a body scale. The device is said to be able to weigh a mass of 100 grams. The display accuracy is stated as 50 grams, but Xiaomi does not comment on the smallest measurement value.
A display is built in so that the corresponding measured values can be read immediately, but the scales can also be controlled by a smartphone via Bluetooth 5.4 - using it with an app is basically the recommended form of use. The app can be used to track weight data over extended periods of time and can store information on 36 users, so it can also be used by extended families or a whole circle of friends. A guest mode is also available, in which case the values are not saved.
A special function is advertised: there is a balance test, which is designed to test coordination and stability, even on one leg. Thanks to the weight sensors, such a function can certainly be integrated into a scale. In the best-case scenario, such a function could also be used to evaluate the risk of falling and the effectiveness of certain balance exercises.
The battery-operated Xiaomi Mijia Body Composition Scale S200 is set to be launched in China at a price equivalent to $10. Information on a possible worldwide release is still pending. Other Xiaomi scales are also available for purchase at Amazon.
