Xiaomi launches new body fat scale globally with display and long battery life

Xiaomi has listed the Mijia Body Composition Scale S400 Pro on its global website, strongly indicating an imminent launch beyond China. In its home market, the device has been available since 2024, making the delayed international rollout notable. While the scale has yet to reach local retailers, direct import from China is already possible. Unlike the standard Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 (on Amazon), the S400 Pro features an integrated display, allowing users to view key metrics directly on the device and reducing reliance on a smartphone app. In addition to current readings, the screen provides quick access to historical data such as weight trends.
The scale uses bioelectrical impedance analysis to estimate metrics including body fat percentage and muscle mass. However, this method has inherent limitations—particularly in devices without hand electrodes. Because the electrical current primarily passes through the lower body, overall accuracy may be reduced. Consequently, the results heavily depend on an individual's specific fat and muscle distribution, meaning the measurements are not necessarily representative of the entire body. To improve conductivity, Xiaomi replaces conventional metal electrodes with a conductive indium tin oxide coating on the glass surface. The scale also supports multiple user profiles, features Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, and offers a battery life of up to 150 days.
