The Withings Body Scan was introduced around three years ago as the manufacturer's flagship scale. Now, a successor model is being released, which, according to the manufacturer's marketing, can determine more than 60 biomarkers instead of the 40 data points that the older model collected.
The design of the scale has changed only minimally. To use all of its features, you still need to hold a handle in both hands that is connected to the scale by a cable. What is new is that the display is now integrated into the handle instead of the base, improving readability. Using eight electrodes, the scale collects data within 90 seconds that goes far beyond weight and body fat percentage.
Withings also promotes stress tracking and cardiovascular health information; users are warned about high blood pressure and declining heart efficiency, while cell aging is evaluated and warnings about prediabetes are provided. Technically, Withings combines impedance cardiography with bioimpedance spectroscopy. The Withings Body Scan 2 has a built-in battery that is supposed to last 15 months on a single charge. While data is stored in the cloud, Withings advertises that it is encrypted and therefore secure.
Price and availability
The Withings Body Scan 2 is expected to hit the market in the second quarter of 2026 at a price of $599.95. By comparison, the first-generation Withings Body Scan currently costs just under $400.
