Alongside the ultra-thin, completely wireless Wallpaper TV (W6), LG has also just unveiled the G6 and C6. The successor to the LG OLED G5 retains the gallery-style design, allowing the TV to be mounted directly on a wall. On the other hand, the TV has received three significant improvements.
Firstly, the third-generation LG Alpha 11 4K AI processor, which has 70% higher graphics performance and a 5.6 times faster AI accelerator, enabling significantly more effective AI image optimization. Second, a new coating is used to drastically reduce reflections, enabling deeper blacks to be displayed, especially in bright daylight. And third, a second-generation RGB tandem OLED panel, which is said to be 20% brighter than the panel in the previous model thanks to the “Brightness Booster Ultra".
Also new is the "Ambient Filmmaker Mode", which combines the familiar Filmmaker Mode with an ambient light sensor to adapt the display to the surrounding light. Featuring full 4K resolution, a 165 Hz refresh rate, Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, the LG OLED G6 is also intended to appeal to gaming enthusiasts. For this target group, LG offers a 330 Hz mode, albeit at a reduced resolution of 1080p, as well as integrated GeForce Now game streaming with up to 120 fps.
LG OLED C6H gets tandem OLED panel
Equally exciting is the LG OLED C6, which is now available in two model variants. The more expensive LG OLED C6H is the first model in the history of the C series to feature a tandem OLED panel, available in either 77-inch or 83-inch sizes, making this model 3.9 times brighter than the more affordable LG OLED B6. According to LG, the brightness is on par with last year's LG OLED G5. However, the smaller C6 models, ranging from 42 inches to 65 inches, will continue to feature a less expensive OLED panel. Details on the price of the new models have not yet been confirmed.
