LG unveils a trio of 5K gaming monitors, including a Mini LED model
LG isn’t waiting for CES 2026 to show off its latest gaming monitors. The South Korean display giant on Friday announced a trio of 5K gaming displays under its UltraGear evo brand, offering us an early peek at what it plans to flex on the show floor in Las Vegas. Here's what LG is bringing to the table.
The 39-inch GX9 5K2K OLED features a gentle 1500R curve
The first is UltraGear GX9 (39GX950B), a 39-inch 5K2K ultra-wide monitor equipped with LG’s Tandem WOLED panel. It features a 21:9 aspect ratio with a more gentle 1500R curvature and 5120 x 2160 resolution. It also comes with Dual Mode, which lets you switch between a 165Hz native refresh rate at 5K2K or a blistering 330Hz at WFHD (Wide Full HD). Since it’s an OLED, response times are nearly instant, 0.03ms.
With a 0.03ms response time and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, it’s aiming to be the ultimate do-it-all display. LG also touts its on-device 5K AI upscaling, AI Scene Optimization, and AI Sound processing, which boosts image and audio quality in real-time without stressing the GPU.
GM9: The first 5K Mini LED monitor
Next up, we have the 27-inch GM9 (27GM950B), which LG says is the world’s first 5K Mini LED monitor. Mini LED panels are prone to blooming or halo effects, preventing them from achieving the true deep blacks offered by their OLED rivals. LG says its new Mini LED panel is designed to offer superior blooming control, featuring 2,304 local dimming zones and a clever Zero Optical Distance engineering technique that reduces the gap between the display and LEDs. This lets the monitor deliver the signature ultra-high brightness of Mini LED while also minimizing halo effects and preserving fine detail in bright and dark scenes.
It is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified with a peak brightness of 1,250 nits. Like the OLED model, it supports Dual Mode operation, allowing users to toggle between 165Hz at native 5K resolution or 330Hz at QHD.
LG UltraGear G9 52-inch 5K2K 240Hz large-format monitor
Finally, there is the 52G930B, the lineup's largest entrant. It’s a 5K2K panel with a unique 12:9 aspect ratio, effectively offering the vertical height of a 42-inch TV stretched into a panoramic workspace. LG says this form factor is 33 percent wider than a standard UHD monitor, wrapped in an aggressive 1000R curve for immersion. It runs at a consistent 240Hz, aiming to replace multi-monitor setups entirely. It’s VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified.
LG hasn't shared pricing details for any of the models yet, but we expect to learn more at CES 2026, which kicks off on January 6. The new UltraGear monitor lineup will be on display at the company's CES booth.
