The G304 is one of Logitech’s most popular gaming mice, likely because of the combination of long battery life, HERO sensor and an affordable price tag. Logitech is now refreshing this mouse as an ultralight X version, which almost cuts the weight of the original in half.

With a weight of 3.49 oz, the Logitech G304 is not particularly heavy, but the new Logitech G304 X competes with other ultralight gaming mice and weighs just over 2 oz. Although the weight has been reduced by 42%, Logitech didn’t make any significant changes to the overall design. The main difference between the G304 X and older G304 are new color options.

The center of gravity located in the middle of the mouse is supposed to improve handling. The low weight is made possible in part by a smaller battery, as battery life drops from 250 hours to 106 hours, while recharging still happens via USB-C. As before, Logitech relies on its own HERO sensor, but the resolution increases from 12,000 to 25,600 DPI. Logitech also specifies an acceleration of up to 40G and a maximum tracking speed of 400 IPS.

The gaming mouse can be hooked up either via USB or via the included 2.4GHz Logitech Lightspeed USB dongle, but there is no mention of Bluetooth in the technical specifications. The G304 X has a wireless polling rate of up to 1,000 Hz. Furthermore, the Logitech mouse is compatible with both Windows and macOS, and the Logitech G Hub software required for programming buttons is available on both operating systems.

Price and availability

The Logitech G304 X Lightspeed gaming mouse is currently only listed on Logitech China, and details regarding price and availability are still pending. However, the mouse will likely be positioned as a relatively affordable gaming mouse, similar to the G304 and the G305, the latter of which currently retails for $26 on Amazon.
