It’s hard to believe, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt originally launched in May 2015, meaning the game has already passed its tenth anniversary. Still, rumors of a third add-on have continued to circulate in recent months. Now, a Polish-language investor report by Mateusz Chrzanowski, an analyst at the financial services firm Noble Securities, has reignited the speculation.
The report, while primarily a financial analysis for investors, describes the potential add-on as a strategic transition project. A release in May 2026 – aligned with the eleventh anniversary of The Witcher 3 – is presumably intended to keep the franchise active and act as a bridge to The Witcher 4, which is currently scheduled for 2027. From a financial perspective, Noble Securities appears to be anticipating a DLC of considerable scope. The analyst projects a unit price of around $30, expected sales of roughly eleven million copies, and a production budget of approximately PLN 52 million – equivalent to about $14 million. These figures point to a major expansion rather than a minor content update. Development, however, is reportedly not being handled directly by CD Projekt, but by the external studio Fool’s Theory.
For now, the content of the potential DLC remains purely speculative. However, since it is already known that Ciri – Geralt’s adopted daughter – will take the lead role in The Witcher 4, the idea of a story-driven transition centered on her appears plausible. This theory is also gaining traction on Reddit, where overall sentiment toward a third expansion is largely positive. Still, some users urge caution. The Noble Securities report is based on market analysis and budget projections rather than insider information from CD PROJEKT, which has yet to officially confirm any plans for another Witcher 3 expansion.
