It is believed that CD Projekt Red is working on another expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a game that released back in 2015. While the developers themselves have not shared any information on the same, it seems like the expansion, or plans of one, have existed for several years and are now close to becoming a reality.
An investor report suggested late last month that an expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was in the works and will release around May 2026, marking 11 years since the game’s original release. Now, a new report by IGN Poland states that they have known about the DLC for several years. It was kept under wraps till now because the information came from only one source, even though it was a reliable one.
As for the DLC, it was initially speculated that a new area called ‘Zerrikania’ will be introduced as part of the world. The area, as per the lore, is located between the Fiery Mountains in the North and Great Korath Desert in the South. It is a desert land with a massive canyon, which would have been an interesting change from the frozen north.
However, since this was several years ago, it is believed that the setting may have changed to a region called ‘Kovir,’ which is a mountainous region. It is known for its glass industries so will likely be a more populated and dense location to explore.
IGN Poland is confident in its source and the information about “something new” being in the works. As for the release date, the DLC is expected to arrive in May this year and will be a filler to keep fans hooked for The Witcher 4. It is also expected that the DLC will provide a smooth transition from Geralt to Ciri as the lead, who is confirmed to be protagonist for The Witcher 4.
