If you enjoy action RPGs like Diablo but also appreciate the challenge of a Souls-like experience from time to time, Achilles: Legends Untold could be right up your alley. Developed by Dark Point Games and published by Galaktus in 2023, it offers a classic isometric RPG formula with a twist – combat is more tactical, placing emphasis on timing and precision.
Set in an alternate take on Greek mythology, the story follows Achilles after the Trojan War as he fights through a world overrun by monsters and chaos. Even with his legendary invulnerability, the odds remain stacked against him. Combat is tactical – every attack and dodge consumes stamina, and enemy patterns must be read carefully to strike at the right moment. A wide range of weapons and a deep skill tree support multiple playstyles while delivering a strong sense of progression.
The team at German gaming outlet Controller Warriors tested Achilles: Legends Untold and praised its combat system, while noting occasional issues with enemy lock-on. Overall, they awarded the game a score of 8.5 out of 10. On Steam, the action RPG has gathered around 2,300 reviews, 78% of which are positive. On Metacritic, it currently holds a Metascore of 67 and a User Score of 7.6. Some of the mixed reception is tied to technical shortcomings, as well as a combat system that may not appeal to everyone. Ultimately, it is a game best judged by playing it yourself.
First ever 75% discount on Steam

There is also good news for portable players: the Souls-like action RPG is Steam Deck Verified (available on Amazon for around $750), making it well suited for gaming on the go.
