The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt special edition Xbox standard and Elite controllers announced
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now 10 years old and to celebrate this milestone, Xbox and CD Projekt Red have teamed up to bring two special edition controllers. The standard and Elite controllers have a Witcher themed skin that incorporates intricately crafted details from the game. Of course, functionally these are the regular standard and Elite controllers for Xbox but with a more expensive price tag, in line with other themed controllers.
Dubbed the Xbox Wireless Controller – The Witcher 3 10th Anniversary Special Edition and Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core The Witcher 3 10th Anniversary Special Edition, they feature the wolf medallion front and center, along with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt logo on the right grip. These black and red themed controllers are available via the Microsoft Xbox store. The only difference between the two, apart from one being the Elite controller, is that the grips are more separated on the Elite controller retaining the textured look and feel.
The Xbox Wireless Controller - The Witcher 3 10th Anniversary Special Edition Controller is priced at $80 while the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 - The Witcher 3 10th Anniversary Special Edition Controller is priced at $170. At the time of writing, only the standard controller is available at the store while the Elite variant is listed as sold out.
Gabriela Peskova, Senior Graphic Designer at CD Projekt Red and Mekias Bekalu, Product Marketing Manager at Xbox state that the wolf head and logo are not the only standout features of these controllers. “The controllers also feature Glagolitic script, the oldest known Slavic alphabet and the same one found in the game itself. As for what the script says… we won’t spoil it here, but let’s just say those symbols are not random,” they add.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt came out in May 2015 and was loved by the fans of the series as well as those experiencing the franchise for the first time. It sits at ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews on Steam and is currently 90% off as part of the publisher sale.
