With a score of 92 on Metacritic, The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt is undoubtedly one of the best received games to launch in recent history. It then went on to win Game of the Year award in 2015, and many other accolades. On top of that, CD Projekt Red did a stellar job keeping up to date, with it receiving a massive overhaul in 2022.
The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt is based on a relatively obscure book series that blew up in popularity once the games launched. Here, you play as Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher who excels at hunting down abominations. People understandably fear you, and that feeling manifests itself many times during the campaign. While The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt doesn't have classes, the game has an intricate web of mechanics you'll need to familiarize yourself with.
At launch, many gamers complained that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's campaign was too long. Howlongtobeat says it can take you up to 52 hours just to get through it, and that's not counting the plethora of side quests the game throws at you. If you're a perfectionist, you can easily sink well over 150 hours into it. And, its DLCs, (Blood and Wine/Heart of Stone) can entertain you for another 50 hours at least.
If you're on a strict budget and can't be bothered with the DLC, just the base game will set you back by $4 on Steam and GOG. If possible, get The Witcher : Wild Hunt Complete Edition because it includes both pieces of DLC, which everyone must experience at least once. You shouldn't have any trouble running it on any gaming PC built in the past decade. And, it is Steam Deck verified, allowing you to play it on the go.
