With a Metacritic score of 94, Bioshock is easily one of the most well-reviewed games of its era. Despite being launched in 2007, the game still holds up today, and many of its Xbox 360-era quirks have been addressed by a remastered version. Even Bioshock 2 got the same treatment shortly after.

Bioshock 1 and 2 take place in Rapture, an underwater settlement designed to thrive in an environment without government regulations. Initially set to be a utopia, things go south very quickly, and that's where our adventures begin. It is an immersive simulator and there are many ways to get through the numerous puzzles the game throws at you. Choices matter, and you'll get different endings based on your actions.

Bioshock 2 takes the tried-and-tested Bioshock formula and ups the ante even further. Bioshock Infinite does the same in an entirely new locale, a sky city called Columbia. While the series has been on ice since Bioshock Infinite released in 2013, there are still hopes of a fourth game arriving. Whether it will do the trilogy justice remains to be seen.

The Bioshock Collection can now be had on Steam for just $12. It includes the remastered version of Bioshock 1, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite with all their DLCs. All three games don't demand much in the way of hardware, and you can run them on any PC/handheld launched in the past few years.
