JoJo's Bizzare Adventure: All-Star Battle R adapts Hirohiko Araki's long-running manga series into a fighting game. It has 50 playable characters from the books and anime series and a variety of gameplay modes.

JoJo's Bizzare Adventure is a long-running manga series that was turned into a popular anime. Created by Hirohiko Araki, the stylish and outlandish characters fit perfectly into a fighting game, and that's what All-Star Battle R is, a generous fan service heavy fighter that is a visual treat for the series fans.

Developed by CyberConnect2, All-Star Battle was released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in 2013. It featured 41 playable characters from the series before being removed from digital stores in 2018.

It was re-released in 2022 with an updated base roster and DLC characters, bringing the total to 50. It offers five modes of gameplay - All-Star Battle, Versus, Online, Practice, and Arcade, along with the option for customization and an art gallery.

Story-wise, the game's "All-Star Battle" mode offers very little in the way of events, and people not familiar with the manga or anime may find themselves without context to what's going on.

The game's stylish visuals and outlandish character design give it a unique look. In terms of mechanics, It's a 2D fighter rendered in 3D and doesn't make much use of the 3rd plane aside from an option to sidestep. You have six-button normals, two special moves, split-second blocking, and dodging, which rewards you with damage mitigation for pulling them off and opens your opponent up for counter-attacks.

The game sits on a "Very Positive" rating on Steam, with 88% favorable reviews. It has a Metacritic score of 73, with an average user score of 7.5. It is currently 80% off on Steam, with the lowest recorded price of $9.99 (€9.99 or £7.99). The offer lasts until May 26, 2025.
