Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is now 40% off on Steam at $35.99, hitting its lowest price to date. With very strong reviews, co-op gameplay, and an active player base, this may be the best time to jump in.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is currently sitting at $35.99 on Steam, thanks to a 40% discount as part of the ongoing "Warhammer Skulls" event. For reference, this is the lowest recorded price for the game since its launch in September 2024 (as per SteamDB). The offer is live until June 5.

A look at the history of the game

Space Marine 2 is the long-awaited follow-up to the 2011 cult hit. It continues the story of Titus, now a Primaris Ultramarine, as he faces off against swarms of Tyranids in a third-person action shooter that seamlessly brings melee combat and heavy firepower together. Co-op modes and PvE multiplayer support round out the experience, using Saber Interactive’s Swarm Engine to render hundreds of enemies without major performance hits.

Reception and reviews

At launch, the game peaked with over 225,000 concurrent players on Steam. It’s currently rated "Very Positive" from more than 161,000 reviews. Kotaku called it "probably the best Warhammer 40K game ever made", while GamesRadar+ scored it 4/5 and The Sixth Axis gave it a strong 9/10. On Metacritic, the PC version currently holds a 82, while the console versions sit slightly higher.

System requirements and performance notes

Minimum specs list a GTX 1060 or RX 580 with 8GB RAM, running on a Ryzen 5 2600X or i5-8600K. For higher settings, you’ll need a 3070 or RX 6800 XT, along with 16GB RAM and a modern CPU. An SSD is required either way, and the game supports up to 60FPS at 1080p on Ultra with the right hardware.

Why this deal makes sense

This is the first time the game has been discounted to $35.99 - a full $24 off the $59.99 retail tag. If you missed it during launch or were waiting for a more reasonable entry point, now’s a great time. Space Marine 2 still has an active player base, frequent updates, and co-op content that holds up well nearly a year later. Plus, the game just got full mod access very recently, so that's something to watch out for as well.
