Deal | Hogwarts Legacy gets a substantial price cut on Steam

Hogwarts Legacy caused quite a stir back when it launched in 2023, with many threatening to boycott the game. Nevertheless, it sold over 30 million copies as of today, making it one of the most successful franchises for WB Games. As far as games set in the Harry Potter universe go, it is easily one of the most elaborate ones, thanks to its vast open world.

In Hogwarts Legacy, you start out as a fifth-year student at Hogwarts. The carriage transporting you to school gets attacked, and before long, you find yourself in the midst of a conspiracy that threatens to shake the wizarding world up. The story has some familiar names, such as Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black, the ancestor of Sirius Black.

Hogwarts Legacy lets you explore the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in its entirety, although the scale has been adjusted to a game-appropriate size. Nevertheless, fans of the franchise will undoubtedly enjoy walking through the numerous halls they read about so many times in the books. You can fly around the world on your broom, but Quidditch isn't a part of the experience for a rather ludicrous reason that is addressed in the game.

Apart from a fully explorable school, Hogwarts Legacy also has a vast open world with iconic locations like Hogsmeade. It has plenty of collectibles, side-quests and lore packed into it, but like many other open world games that came before it, exploration gets repetitive after a while. Strictly speaking, the world isn't technically all open, and some sections are walled-off until you progress the story enough.

While wand combat is a central part of the Hogwarts Legacy gameplay loop, it is broken up with puzzles, side-quests and plenty of dialogue. Some of the game's lore, however, doesn't make sense in the slightest. For example, you can use Unforgivable Curses with zero consequences, although actually learning them is a chore and a half.

Despite WB Games' promises, a PlayStation-exclusive questline is yet to arrive on PC. It's a shame because it is legitimately one of the most challenging pieces of content in the game. Hogwarts Legacy can be purchased on Steam for $15, 75% lesser than its $60 asking price. The game isn't exactly new and is often at the receiving end of discounts, but if you've been waiting for it to get cheaper, now is as good a time as any.
