Xbox gamers have a limited-time chance to add Metro 2033 Redux to their libraries at no cost - thanks to 4A Games. The offer marks the celebration of the original Metro series’ 15th anniversary.
Metro 2033 Redux was first released in 2014 as a definitive edition with revamped visuals, overhauled gameplay mechanics and upgraded AI. From now through May 27, Metro 2033 Redux is available free on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Once players claim it, the title remains in their libraries permanently - no strings attached.
Unlike a previous April giveaway that was mistakenly revoked due to a storefront glitch, this freshly relaunched promotion appears fully operational. Players don’t even need to download the roughly 30 GB title immediately - they can simply claim it in the Microsoft Store and install it whenever they’re ready.
Here are the details of the giveaway -
- Offer ends May 27 at 11:59 pm ET on Xbox One and Series X/S.
- Add it to your account now; download later at your convenience.
- Permanent digital ownership once claimed.
For newcomers, Metro 2033 Redux casts you as Artyom, a lone survivor journeying through the irradiated tunnels and desolate surface of post-apocalyptic Moscow. The Redux edition enhances the series’ signature atmosphere with dynamic lighting, improved textures and smoother performance - and it’s the perfect introduction to the trilogy.
As mentioned, this offer is only for Xbox gamers. PC players and PlayStation owners won’t find the free giveaway, as they already enjoyed a free run in April. On other platforms, this game is available for purchase.
Plus, as 4A Games announced a few weeks ago, the developer is busy with the next Metro title, which seems to be darker and has a more politically charged story.
