Rumor has it that the next Hogwarts Legacy will be free-to-play, with job ads posted online by Avalanche Software.

Following the success of the first Hogwarts Legacy game, the developers seem determined to offer fans of the Harry Potter universe a new opus. And according to rumors, this new game may well prove to be very different from its predecessor.

Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros Games, Hogwarts Legacy allowed fans to immerse themselves in the fantastic world of Harry Potter and live the story of their own character as they saw fit. With over 34 million players across all platforms, it's hard to believe that the developers wouldn't want to make another game.

However, the latter has still not been officially announced, although Gunnar Wiedenfeld made it clear during an interview with Variety that the successor to Hogwarts Legacy is a priority. And on the Avalanche Software side, some movement is afoot.

Indeed, the studio is looking for a design director for an online multiplayer RPG with experience in free-to-play models. Consequently, on seeing this announcement, fans of the saga and the game thought that Hogwarts Legacy 2 could be a free-to-play game.

A closer look reveals that the director will be directly integrated into the teams behind Hogwarts Legacy. Of course, these are just rumors, and nothing official has yet been announced. So it's best to proceed with caution.

However, other announcements indicate that the teams are looking for an expert in game economics, rewards, account systems and monetization strategies. In the not-too-distant future, Hogwarts Legacy 2 could be free-to-play, with microtransactions via a store offering perks, cosmetics and more, as is already the case with some games.

But while we await further information, Harry Potter-loving gamers can discover Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch 2, which has been available since June 5. Note that this port is close to the one on PS4, with some loading times removed, and much better than the one available on Nintendo Swich
