With FiveM servers, gamers have plenty of ways to pass the time until the GTA 6 release date. SevenWands was a mystical GTA 5 RP world with a clear connection to Harry Potter games. After Rockstar imposed a ban, its creator claims none of his work infringes on copyrights.

FiveM servers can introduce unique multiplayer experiences in GTA 5. Some creators invest enormous amounts of money to develop a universe that bears little resemblance to San Andreas. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games shut down the well-funded SevenWands server weeks after its launch. As reported by Gamepressure, its creator, TeufeurSoff, is now appealing to the company to reverse the ban.

At the moment, it’s not clear why SevenWands was taken offline with little notice. Posting on social media, TeufeurSoff or Teuf, implies that alleged copyright infringement is the reason. Some gamers who have played SevenWand saw many similarities with Harry Potter games like Hogwarts Legacy. However, Teuf argues that the server has “NOTHING TO DO with Harry Potter.”

The creator explains that he invented unique lore, spells, factions and more. Teuf also says he can offer FiveM and Rockstar proof that all the fantastical content was original. One poster suspects that illegally edited GTA 5 game files are the cause, but FiveM is fairly tolerant of these modifications.

Other explanations for the SevenWand ban

One reason Rockstar purchased the company operating FiveM servers was to avoid copyright infringement allegations. Now that it has more control over GTA 5 RP servers, the studio can better protect itself from potential lawsuits. The multiplayer experience can also encourage players to subscribe to GTA Online and purchase in-game items.

Servers like SevenWand are able to charge for additional content or other benefits. The Harry Potter-like interpretation of GTA 5’s crime world reportedly saw 10,000 players join since its November 8th launch.

Without a resolution, Teuf is unlikely to recover the $100,000+ that he used to fund the project. Critics wonder why he didn’t invest the funds in developing a standalone indie game. Still, even a title that’s smaller in scope may demand an even larger investment.
