GTA 5 Enhanced has arrived on PCs, with improvements including ray tracing support and faster loading times. However, while Rockstar aimed to make the transition seamless, not everything is smooth sailing. Gamers are struggling to transfer saves from GTA V and GTA Online to the new version. Also, players are discovering some drawbacks, like the lack of text chat.
Players with GTA 5 in their Epic Games or Steam libraries can upgrade to GTA 5 Enhanced at no cost. Of course, many gamers with thousands of hours invested in the title don't want to start over. To accommodate this scenario, there is an option in the GTA 5 Legacy pause menu to upload save files.
Unfortunately, some players are receiving error messages when starting the migration process. Part of the explanation is that any account with unapproved hacks is not eligible for transfer. Even if a gamer has since deleted these GTA mods, accounts remain flagged. Redditors who claim they never used cheats to gain an advantage are voicing their displeasure.
Not all the migration issues are related to previously banned or flagged accounts. Rockstar's servers are under siege due to the rush to experience GTA 5 Enhanced. Some players who had previously downloaded GTA 5 from Epic Games for free have also not been able to upgrade without an added charge.
Even once virtual thieves log in to GTA 5 Enhanced, they discover some glaring omissions. Text chat, a popular way for shy PC gamers to communicate, is not an option at launch. Also, while performance seems satisfactory for most, players have been unable to find the in-game benchmark tool.
Rockstar has already responded to some of these concerns. The publisher asks for patience, promising that all eligible players should be able to download GTA 5 Enhanced. Hopefully, other gamers with unfairly flagged accounts can find workarounds besides resetting progress.
