10 years after releasing Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Games dropped the first trailer for the Grand Theft Auto VI in December 2023. The trailer revealed that the game is to come out in 2025. However, a concerning report alleged in March that the GTA 6 release date could be delayed to 2026 due to development slowdowns.
Fortunately, Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has confirmed in its financial results for fiscal year 2024 that GTA VI will be released next year. The company explains that it expects Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.66 billion vs $5.33 billion for the fiscal year 2024 due to a “narrowing of Rockstar Games' previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI.”
In other words, the GTA VI release date is set for Fall 2025. Sadly, the initial release could only be for consoles like the PS5 (Available on Amazon) as a PC port is rumored to come out a while later.
Naturally, Take-Two is very confident about the financial success of GTA VI stating that its “expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase.” GTA V is a tremendous financial success. In fact, it is regarded as the most successful entertainment product of all time with the latest estimates putting the copies sold at 200 million.
That said, whether GTA VI achieves the success of its predecessor will entirely depend upon the quality of the final product.
