Ex-Rockstar dev says GTA 6 won't be "wildly different" and may leave players "disappointed"
Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar Games developer, has shared his thoughts on GTA 6, and he believes that it will be the "best game out there." However, Vermeij says that the game could initially disappoint players. The ex-developer clarifies that he has "no inside information" about the title and isn't involved with it.
But Vermeij did have a significant impact in the Grand Theft Auto series. Before leaving Rockstar Games in 2009, he spent around 14 years as the technical director and had a big role in programming GTA 3, GTA 4, Vice City, and San Andreas.
In an interview with SanInPlay, Vermeij says that he's thoroughly impressed with what Rockstar Games has shown about GTA 6 in the reveal trailer. Vermeij notes that the trailer "looks pretty amazing," but he doesn't think the game will be wildly different from GTA 5.
Combined with the high expectations from gamers for the next installment, Vermeij believes that players may be a "little disappointed on the first day." He mentions that the technological jump between the console generations is a big aspect, and it may be the reason why we may not see a huge difference from what GTA V has already offered.
Worth mentioning that all of this is just Vermeij's prediction, and Vermeij is still optimistic about the game. He even said that the "Miami vibe" suits Grand Theft Auto "very well."
