Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare: PC release date confirmed with major upgrades in tow
14 years after Rockstar unveiled Red Dead Redemption, fans of the game won't have to wait any longer. Two months after Sony hinted at a PC release, Rockstar Games has finally confirmed that the aforementioned game and its highly acclaimed expansion, Undead Nightmare, will be arriving on PC on October 29, 2024.
Originally released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Red Dead Redemption was critically acclaimed for its gripping narrative, open-world design, and an overall great depiction of the American frontier in the late 19th century. The game achieved legendary status in the gaming community, winning multiple Game of the Year awards. With a score of 95 on MetaCritic, the game is undoubtedly a gem.
Undead Nightmare, released as an expansion in the same year, transformed the game’s Western setting into a zombie-horror survival experience. It added a supernatural twist that was also accepted pretty well by fans and critics alike. Both the original game and the alternate timeline expansion are still celebrated for their storytelling and lasting impact on the genre.
This new PC version will come with a number of upgrades specifically tailored for the platform. Players can expect native 4K resolution support, ultrawide monitor compatibility, and frame rates up to 144Hz on supported hardware. Rockstar has teamed up with Double Eleven to make the PC port well worth it, including the addition of NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.0, and other visual updates like HDR10 and adjustable draw distances.
