Rockstar has confirmed that it plans to launch GTA 6 on current-gen consoles only in 2025. If GTA 5 is anything to go by, a PC launch could follow suit next year.

After a torrent of leaks, Rockstar finally buckled and showed off GTA 6 in all its glory via a 90-second trailer several hours before it intended to. We got to see some in-game footage, Vice City and the game's protagonists. However, its 2025 release date will undoubtedly cause some frustration among the community. Rockstar has tacitly confirmed PC gamers could have to wait even longer.

The company's official press release states, "Grand Theft Auto VI coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S," with the phrase PC nowhere to be found. This sits in line with an earlier report which stated that GTA 6 would be exclusive to consoles for a year before hitting PC, which is precisely what happened with GTA 5 back in 2013.

On the one hand, PC players will get a polished version of GTA 6, as Rockstar will get ample time to iron out major bugs with the console version. On the other, the fear of missing out will prompt many PC gamers to pick up the game on consoles (US$449 on Amazon). Many will even take it a step further and buy it on both platforms. Either way, Rockstar wins in the end, and PC gamers get a somewhat polished game at launch, something that is becoming increasingly rare of late.
