It appears that a new State of Play is en route with a slew of game premiers. Per the leaks, the State of Play could air in a few days with games like Death Stranding 2, Silent Hill 2, and Judas in tow. Interestingly, the rumors also talk of a new Metro title that could debut at the showcase.

Update

Sony has now confirmed that the State of Play will be air on January 31st at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMT. The showcase will be more than 40 minutes long and have 15+ titles including Rise of Ronin and Stellar Blade. The showcase will be streamed on PlayStation's official YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok channels.

The original story continues below.

Sony is expected to hold a new State of Play games showcase around January 31st according to a new leak by Shpeshal_Nick. If true, the latest State of Play will land around 4 months after the September 2023 State of Play where Sony exhibited games such as Resident Evil 4, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Ghostrunner 2, and Spider-man 2, to name a few.

According to a rather cryptic tweet, Shpeshal_Nick appears to reveal a list of games that could land at the latest State of Play. The games include:

  • Rise of the Ronin which is set to release on March 22, 2024.
  • Death Stranding 2, the sequel to Hideo Kojima’s 2019 title.
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.
  • Sonic Generations Remaster, a reimagining of a title which originally came out in 2011 on consoles and PC.
  • Silent Hill 2 Remake which aims to bring the 2001 Konami classic to modern audiences.
  • Until Dawn Remaster, a PS4 exclusive horror game that first released in 2015.

In addition to the games listed above, Shpeshal_Nick also suggests that Sony will be premiering a new Metro title. While 4A Games is yet to reveal anything about their new project, Kurakasis on X alleges that the game is titled “Metro Awakening” and is a VR title. However, the leaker doesn’t know if Metro Awakening is only available as a VR experience and whether or not it is a purely single-player/multi-player entry or offers both modes.

Finally, the PlayStation State of Play for January 2024 will also reportedly premier Judas from Bioshock creator Kevin Levine. Judas got its first trailer back in December 2022 and it looks like a Bioshock game in everything but the name. The game is a first-person narrative adventure.

That said, since Sony is yet to confirm the existence of a new State of Play, take the rumors with a grain of salt.
