The upcoming Deadlock game from Valve is reportedly available to playtesters. According to reports, it seems that the game takes inspiration from multiple popular online titles, including Overwatch, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2. The testers have also started sharing screenshots, which have now been verified by known data miner @GabeFollower and Valve watcher Tyler McVicker.
@GabeFollower shared four screenshots that the data miner could verify from the alleged third-person shooter gamer. It shows one of the heroes, along with some description of the character's ability and weapon. The screenshots do show that there's heavy inspiration from Valve's popular Team Fortress 2.
According to @GabeFollower, Deadlock will have "6 vs 6 battling on huge maps with 4 lanes." Players will have "usable abilities and items," and there will be "tower defense mechanics." The data miner has also shared that it's the up-to-date title from the game developer, and it was previously known as Neon Prime.
As for the name change, Neon Prime was supposedly an earlier version of Deadlock that had a sci-fi art style. But as @GabeFollower notes and the screenshots show, the game evolved and now has a steampunk and fantasy theme.
The data miner continues that the "hero design (is) pretty much inspired by Dota universe," and the elements from the screenshots do make it convincing. Worth mentioning that some fans seem to be disappointed with these leaks, as many wanted Valve to bring out a third-person shooter that's a direct successor to Team Fortress 2.
Since testers started sharing Deadlock screenshots all over the place, here's ones I can verify, featuring one of the heroes called Grey Talon. pic.twitter.com/KdZSRxObSz
