Back in April, Viture and 8BitDo announced a special version of 8BitDo's Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller that has support for XR glasses. However, there was no information about pricing and availability. That has changed as the controller is now available to purchase.
Available in a single black color, albeit a translucent one, the Viture x 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller is available to buy from Viture's website and Amazon for $79. That's $30 more than the original 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller (available on Amazon for $49.99) which is available in black and white color options.
The Viture x 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller is different from the standard variant in a few ways. Apart from its design, the Viture edition connects via USB-C to the compatible device which reduces latency compared to the standard version that connects via Bluetooth.
In addition, the controller has a USB-C port on the right grip where users can connect a pair of Viture XR glasses for an immersive gaming experience. It also has a USB-C port at the top for passthrough charging. According to the spec sheet, the controller supports up to 45W passthrough fast charging.
Although the Viture x 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller is compatible with Android smartphones only (Android 13+) and fits devices with a length of between 100mm to 170mm, only devices with support for DisplayPort Alt mode (via USB-C) will be able to work with a pair of Viture XR glasses.
Like the standard 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller, this also has Hall Effect joysticks, tactile bumpers and D-pad, and customizable back buttons. It also has 6-axis gyro. The controller ships with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable in the box.
