Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the director of The Witcher 3, and his team at Rebel Wolves have announced a dark new RPG set during The Black Death in 14th Century Europe.
Founded in 2022 by Tomaszkiewicz, Rebel Wolves' creative team is staffed by industry veterans who have previously worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Tomaszkiewicz left CD Projekt Red following allegations of workplace bullying in 2021.
The investigation concluded that he was not guilty, but Tomaszkiewicz chose to leave the company and form his own in 2022. The Blood of Dawnwalker is the team's first foray into AAA gaming and promises the dark grit and the heart of The Witcher 3.
The teaser trailer looks stunning, with an immediately captivating world that is stricken with The Black Death, an actual pandemic that happened from 1346 to 1353 in Europe. It killed an estimated 50 million people.

What is worse than the plague? How about Vampires? The creatures of the night have started to come pouring out at the first sight of humanity's weakness. The RPG promises a world that isn't black or white and from the looks of things, the player will have agency and choices on who to side with in a "narrative sandbox."
Rebel Wolves say this is the "first chapter of a brand new role-playing saga," with Bandai Namco handling publishing duties for the game. While the official store listings for the game aren't live yet, the promotional images promise a release across the spectrum of devices - PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
