Logitech G316 X hot swappable gaming keyboard launches with 8 kHz polling rate

For buyers who still value number pads, Logitech has unveiled a new full-size gaming keyboard. The corded G316 X adds another hot-swappable model to the manufacturer’s lineup. Along with customizable mechanical switches, an 8 kHz polling rate trims response times.
In black and white colorways, the G316 X will be available at retailers on June 30th. Gamers can choose from default linear or tactile switches. The wired gaming keyboard carries a price of $119.99/€119.99/ £109.99.
A large and bright keyboard
The new Logitech keyboard isn’t the most portable accessory at 920 grams, including a detachable USB-C cable. On its release date, only a full-size layout will launch without TKL or smaller varieties. Still, the company lauds the device’s durability, which relies on a snap-fit gasket design. It describes the typing sound as “thocky,” avoiding high-pitched pinging.

With the generous surface area comes a dot-matrix LED display above the number pad. Using a semi-translucent knob, owners can tweak brightness, adjust volume, or skip music tracks. If G-Hub software isn’t convenient to access, it’s also possible to lower the polling rate.
The G316 X gaming keyboard is fully illuminated and features a 30-zone RGB light bar. When making adjustments with the control dial, the strip provides visual feedback.
G316 X customization
The hot-swappable keyboard allows gamers to experiment with various mechanical switches. Otherwise, the stock linear option has a 1.9 mm actuation distance, with the tactile alternative at 2.1 mm. To achieve a more personalized typing feel, the double shot PBT keycaps can also be replaced.
Latency may not be a major concern with a wired gaming keyboard, but the 8 kHz polling rate reduces costly input delays. Logitech quotes a 0.125ms response time to cater to the most competitive players.
As part of the G3 series, the G316 X debuts alongside the G305 X Superlight wireless gaming mouse. The update to the best-selling G305 Lightspeed includes a rechargeable battery and a 44K optical sensor.
