Logitech Pop Icon Keys review - Compact keyboard with customizable action keys
Compact, stylish, affordable.
The Logitech Pop Icon Keys is a wireless keyboard available in various colors, that impressed us in the test with its quiet touch, long battery life and smart functions. However, there are still a few compromises to be made.Daniel Schmidt, 👁 Enrico Frahn, ✓ Anton Avdyushkin (translated by DeepL / Ninh Duy) Published 🇩🇪 🇫🇷 ...
Verdict - Stylish keyboard at a low price
The Logitech Pop Icon Keys do a lot of things right and offer a good overall concept. The compact design looks stylish and saves space on the desk, but also has the disadvantage that the layout is a little cramped and some keys are not in their usual place.
Nevertheless, the Logitech keyboard is really good to type on and the keystrokes are audible, but not particularly loud and not as quiet as the MX Keys. Another plus point is the extremely long battery life of up to three years. You can also quickly switch between up to three paired devices at the touch of a button. The configurable function keys round off the overall package.
However, the low price also requires a few compromises: there are no adjustable feet and the compact layout is certainly not everyone's cup of tea. Due to the compact design, there is also no numeric keypad and there is no backlight.

Case and connectivity - Logitech Pop Icon Keys come without a bolt receiver
The Logitech Popo Icon Keys are made entirely of plastic and are available in four different colors: Offwhite-Orange, Purple-Offwhite, Pink-Offwhite and Graphite-Green. The latter is the color of our test device. The workmanship is good, only the transition between the two primary plastic elements is a little sharp-edged.
There are five rubberized feet on the underside, which dampen impacts and ensure a secure hold for the keyboard. There is also a maintenance flap that allows access to the two AAA batteries. Additionally, there is a recess for the optional Logi Bolt USB adapter. An on/off switch is placed right next to the flap.
If you own or buy a Logi Bolt adapter, you can use it as a dongle for Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, or macOS. Logitech advertises this as more secure and stable than a conventional Bluetooth connection. However, the adapter is only available with USB-A, so an additional UCB-C adapter may need to be purchased.
If Logi Bolt is used, this is automatically stored on the first Easy-Switch button. Alternatively, a conventional Bluetooth connection is available, which can then be used to connect all standard smartphones and tablets. The Pop Icon Keys can be paired with up to three devices at the same time, which can then be easily switched between using the Easy-Switch buttons.
Logitech puts the battery life at up to 36 months, an enormously long time. During the entire test period, the battery charge level remained at 100%, which is why we consider this value to be quite realistic.
Scope of delivery and sustainability - The choice of color makes all the difference
The scope of delivery of the Logitech Popo Icon Keys only includes the keyboard and two batteries (LR03, AAA, 1.5 V).
The choice of color for the Logitech keyboard is not only important for aesthetic reasons but also in terms of sustainability, as the proportion of recycled plastic is highest in the graphite green version at 70%, followed by off-white-orange (53%), purple-off-white (48%) and pink-off-white (37%). All versions use environmentally friendly cardboard packaging that is FSC-certified.
Software - Pop Icon Keys configurable with Options+
It is actually sufficient to simply pair the Logitech Icon Pop Keys with the respective end device and you are ready to go. However, if you want to customize the keys, you need to download and install the software Logi Options+ (Plus) which is available for Windows and macOS and can be downloaded from Logitech.
After installation, Options+ provides an overview of the range of functions. If necessary, the mouse, webcam, and other devices can also be managed here.
In addition to classic firmware updates, further settings can also be made in Options+ and buttons can be assigned differently. These include, in particular, the four color-highlighted buttons on the right-hand side but also many of the upper double-assigned buttons from F4 to Increase brightness. The assignment of the Easy-Switch buttons can also be viewed and adjusted if necessary.
Input and functionality - Quiet typing with the Logitech keyboard
The Logitech Pop Icon Keys uses a so-called 75% layout and is correspondingly narrow. Flat rubber dome keys are used, most of which are slightly curved inwards. We like the feel of the keyboard, the keys have clear pressure points and require a slightly firmer stroke, yet they remain pleasantly quiet.
The layout takes some getting used to. This differs from a standard keyboard, particularly on the right-hand side, and there is no numeric keypad. The compact design also has the disadvantage that the keys are quite close together. The keyboard is double-printed and therefore combines the layout for Windows and Mac.
The four color-highlighted action keys can be configured with Logi Options+ and are intended in particular to speed up access to important functions such as AI assistants, but can also be linked to a variety of other commands. The top row is characterized by additional function keys (Fn), which can also be customized. In addition, there is a double assignment with the classic F-keys here; by holding down the Fn key, its function can be changed. If you want to change this in general, you can do so in the settings.
There is no backlighting, but thanks to the high-contrast color selection for the keys, they are still easy to see in dim light.
