Iqunix recently impressed us with its 8 kHz polling EZ63 Hall-effect gaming keyboard (which currently retails for $179.99 on Amazon), and the Magi65 Pro we are currently in the process of reviewing is stacking up to be an astonishingly impressive low-profile keyboard. According to a recent post to the Iqunix Discord server, the keyboard maker looks to be repeating its home-run with what is effectively an 80% version of the Magi65.
The highlight features of the Iqunix MQ80 are its full aluminium construction — which will have a high-quality finish and premium feel, if the Magi65 is anything to go by — sleek PBT keycaps, and 350-hour battery life. The MQ80 will also feature the Le-Tray mount, which is a gasket-supported tray mount that delivers a full-height, gasket-mount typing feel without compromising in thickness.
The MQ80 will also support VIA for remapping and customisation, tri-mode connectivity (2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, and USB type-C wired), and a hot-swap PCB. It also looks to be using the same flexible FR4 plate as the Magi65. According to the Kickstarter page, Iqunix will also use the Kailh-manufactured Gold Red switches, which have a POM stem and pleasant poppy sound profile.
One difference between the Magi65 series and the MQ80 is that the MQ80 uses a much more reserved keycap design. Although the actual hardware design seems similar to that of the Magi65, the MQ80 looks to be taking inspiration from productivity and creative applications for the designs on the accent keycaps.
According to the announcement, the MQ80 will launch on Kickstarter on February 25, although no price has yet been announced. The Kickstarter will be limited to 100 units, and the launch will include free worldwide shipping. Iqunix has yet to clarify, but the MQ80 will likely launch to the Iqunix web store after the Kickstarter launch.
The main competition for the Iqunix MQ80 will be keyboards like the new NuPhy Kick75, the Lofree Flow and Flow Lite (which we also reviewed), and Keychron's various low-profile designs.
