Bapaco packs an ultra-wide touchscreen and a full-fledged Windows computer into a mechanical keyboard, which is designed to be used both as an accessory for PCs and Macs and as a laptop replacement for on the go.

Bapaco combines three devices into one: a mechanical keyboard, a mini PC and a small, ultra-wide second screen, namely an Asus ProArt PA147CDV. When connected to a Windows computer, a Mac or an Android device with a USB-C cable, Bapaco serves as a keyboard with an integrated display.

Thanks to an integrated Intel Core i5-1235U, the device can also be used entirely without a connected PC. As soon as the buyer adds an SSD, RAM and an operating system to Bapaco, it becomes a full-fledged mini-computer. Thanks to the integrated battery, it can also be used like a laptop without a power cable, although the 5,000 mAh battery only has enough power for six hours of video playback.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen in 16:6 format is based on an IPS panel with a resolution of 1,920 x 720; the hinge allows the display to be positioned at an angle of between 0 and 90 degrees. The keyboard only comes in the QWERTY layout and with linear switches, although the switches can be replaced afterwards. RGB lighting is standard. Other features include a 3-watt speaker, two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The keyboard computer weighs just over 4 pounds or 1.82 kilograms.

Price and availability

The Bapaco keyboard computer is currently being funded on Kickstarter. The "Kickstarter Special" consists of a barebone model without RAM or SSD and costs HKD 5,000 (approx. $643) plus import VAT and shipping. Delivery is expected to begin in May 2025.

As always, there is a certain risk that products from Kickstarter campaigns will not be delivered or will be of inferior quality, particularly if it is a company's first project, as is the case with Bapaco.
