Since its relaunch in 2018, publisher MicroProse has primarily focused on realistic military simulations. Now, with Neyyah, the company is venturing into point-and-click adventure territory. The game features highly detailed pre-rendered environments and FMV sequences with real actors, creating a unique visual style. With its complex puzzles and first-person perspective, Neyyah should appeal especially to old-school adventure fans. While there’s no release date yet, a free demo on Steam offers a first look.
Neyyah transports players to a mysterious island world filled with portals, enigmatic devices and the remnants of two ancient civilizations. While its realistic visuals and immersive atmosphere have been well received, the gameplay has faced some criticism from the community.
Fans on Reddit have voiced concerns about Neyyah's overloaded storytelling, limited exploration and lack of clear feedback in the game world. Many players find it difficult to tell which objects are interactive, leading to confusion. However, lead developer Aaron Gwynaire has joined the discussion, promising to consider community feedback during development. An updated demo, reflecting these improvements, is also planned for Steam Next Fest.
By the way: Thanks to its pre-rendered environments, Neyyah delivers realistic visuals while keeping system requirements surprisingly low. An Nvidia GTX 950 is recommended on Steam.
