Since its debut in 2004, Capcom’s Monster Hunter series has been one of the most successful action RPG franchises. The games revolve around hunting monsters, with players stepping into the role of a hunter who slays creatures, gathers materials and forges new weapons and armor to take on even greater challenges. The latest entry, Monster Hunter Wilds, is currently the most anticipated game on Steam. The wait is almost over, this highly awaited action RPG is set to launch on February 28, likely for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam).
Monster Hunter Wilds transports players to the Forbidden Lands, a brand-new, uncharted region filled with fresh challenges. For the first time in the series, dynamic weather changes will directly impact hunts, adding a new layer of strategy. The open world is seamless, eliminating loading times between areas, while monsters behave more intelligently and interact more naturally with each other. Additionally, the story – centered around a mysterious threat and the boy Nata – will take on a greater role than in previous entries.
Huge anticipation in the community
The excitement for Monster Hunter Wilds is huge in the Reddit community. Many players have even taken time off to dive in as soon as it launches on February 28. Fans are also getting creative, organizing release parties and sharing fan art. Discussions are buzzing with talk about favorite weapons, beta impressions and expectations for the new game.
However, a possible delay for the PC is frustrating Steam players. While February 28 is the official release date, Capcom has yet to confirm whether the PC version will launch alongside the console versions. The skepticism isn’t unfounded, when Monster Hunter World was released, PC players had to wait months for their version. This has sparked heated debates over whether to hold out for the PC release or jump straight to the console version.
Three editions available
Monster Hunter Wilds will be available in three editions, all of which are already up for pre-order. The Standard Edition costs around $70, while the Deluxe Edition includes extra cosmetic content like layered armor, gestures and stickers. For $110, the Premium Deluxe Edition offers everything from the Deluxe Edition along with exclusive extras and a special soundtrack. However, none of the editions provide gameplay advantages, all bonuses are purely cosmetic.
