In October 2024, Game Freak fell victim to a major data leak that exposed numerous internal documents. This was the first time Synapse appeared as a project name. Now, just a few months later, the game might be ready for its official reveal. Well-known leaker Pyoro shared an image of a synapse, which was later picked up by the X account Contro LEAKS. Many see this as a strong hint that the game will be showcased at the upcoming Pokémon Presents on February 27 at 15:00 CET.
Not a classic Pokémon RPG
Little is known about Synapse so far, but we do know that Game Freak is developing it in collaboration with ILCA. It’s expected to be a multiplayer game with strong online elements. While some have compared it to Splatoon, it’s unclear whether it will be a shooter, an arena fighter or something entirely different.
Fans between hope and skepticism
The community is divided. Many fans on X are excited about Synapse and hope for an innovative multiplayer experience, possibly even a Pokémon MMO. Others are more skeptical, fearing it could be a heavily monetized gacha or live service game. Some also question the leak’s credibility. Whether Synapse will be revealed this soon will only become clear next Thursday at Pokémon Presents.
