Retroid has now confirmed various details about its Nintendo DS lookalike. Not only does the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 feature an OLED display, but it also features Hall effect joysticks and triggers. A separate leak has offered an insight into the clamshell gaming handheld's release date, too.

A few days have passed since Retroid officially unveiled the Pocket Flip 2. Initially, the company shared a single picture, in which a more mysterious second console was also visible. Now, Retroid has shared a short video across social media, embedded below.

While last week's teaser revealed the Pocket Flip 2 from the front, the 31-second video showcases the device from more angles. As a result, it is possible to make out a pair of volume buttons on its right-hand side. Meanwhile, Retroid has positioned the device's 3.5 mm jack, microSD card reader and USB Type-C port on its front edge. The Pocket Flip 2 contains a lanyard hole too but a port-free left-hand side.

Retroid has confirmed the inclusion of Hall effect triggers and joysticks too, the latter of which it has applied what it calls an 'anti-slip' texture. The Pocket Flip 2 continues in the footsteps of the Pocket 5 and Pocket Mini with an OLED display. As the video below shows, this display sits within a hinge that can rotate up to 180 degrees, although this is also true of other clamshell handhelds the Anbernic RG35XX SP (curr. $79.99 on Amazon).

Retroid has not officially confirmed a release date yet. However, leaks suggest that Pocket Flip 2 pre-orders will open in March. Despite not providing a specific date in this regard, the same source correctly predicted that more information would be revealed on February 19. Based on previous launches, Retroid will continue to drip feed information throughout the rest of the month about not just the Pocket Flip 2 but also its new vertical gaming handheld.
