The iMP Mini Arcade Pro transforms the Switch and Switch 2 into an arcade cabinet with fight stick
With Nintendo Classics, retro gaming has become a huge part of the Switch and Switch 2 experience. The new iMP Mini Arcade Pro aims to transport gamers back to the 1980s. Consoles slide into the accessory and establish a secure connection through USB-C. The Mini Arcade Pro also acts as a Switch controller and fight stick, with a ball-top joystick and eight micro-switch buttons.
The iMP Mini Arcade Pro has no announced price, but it will debut at the August 20th Gamescom. This clever accessory is expected to ship in time for the 2025 holiday season.
The UK manufacturer claims it’s straightforward to install the Switch, Switch OLED, or Switch 2 in the compact arcade cabinet. When at home, players have a creative alternative to using kickstands in tabletop mode. A screen adapter converts to shield the display on the various handhelds. Meanwhile, an ABS plastic construction protects the consoles during travel. Another convenience of the Mini Arcade Pro is its ability to hold up to 12 Switch or Switch 2 Game Cards.
Also serving as a fight stick, the Mini Arcade Pro hopes to cater to competitive gamers. Whether playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or Street Fighter 6, the controller prioritizes rapid and low-latency inputs. Turbo mode reduces the number of button presses required to perform combos.
Gamers can also customize the joystick to function as either a left or right analog stick or a D-pad. Most standard controls are available, including the C-button found only on Switch 2 controller options.
Whether or not the iMP Mini Arcade Pro becomes more than a novelty remains to be seen. Still, it provides an alternative to retro gaming fans who aren’t handy enough to build a custom arcade cabinet.
