With detachable controllers such as Joy-Cons comes the possibility of misplacing them. The original Nintendo Switch tried to help users locate their Joy-Cons by vibrations, but it wasn’t always helpful. Now, with the Switch 2, the company has added a sound to make it easier to locate the new Joy-Cons which is great because if you lose one, the only option is to get a new pair and that’s expensive.
As showcased in the Nintendo Today app, the Switch 2 brings back the ‘Search for Controllers’ feature but this time the Joy-Con 2 controllers will make a loud beeping sound along with vibrations. This should make it much easier to locate them if they are buried behind pillows or far away for the vibrations to be heard or felt.
Of course, the controller will need to be paired with the console, have sufficient battery, and not be out of range. The Joy-Con 2 controller pair costs $95 so it can be an expensive replacement if you lose just one.
The updated feature is a welcome addition especially at a time when Nintendo confirmed the lack of VRR when the Switch 2 is docked. The company had originally mentioned on its website that the console supports HDR, VRR, and 120 FPS in docked mode, but this was recently confirmed to be incorrect. Nintendo then issued an apology for the error and removed the mention of VRR from the website.
