Target is said to be selling Switch 2 units in store only on launch day. Customers will be able to place online orders from June 6 but Best Buy and GameStop will be taking online and in-store orders on launch day.

The Switch 2 is just over two weeks away from release and the hype around the console has been incredible. Pre-orders, though delayed from their original date in the US and Canda, have sold out everywhere. However, those who were unable to pre-order may still have a chance to grab the console on launch day via retailers like Best Buy, GameStop, and possibly in-store via Target.

Both Best Buy and GameStop had previously confirmed that there will be additional Switch 2 stock on June 5, the console’s launch day. This came as great news for those who were looking to secure a pre-order for the console but missed their opportunity in the chaos. Now, YouTuber Jake Randall has claimed that Target will have 40 to 60 total units of the Switch 2 that will be equally split between the bundle and just the console. This will only be in-store and that Target will only open online orders from June 6.

Following confirmations from Best Buy and GameStop, Randal also confirmed that customers can visit GameStop stores on June 4 and starting 3pm, they can pay for the Switch 2 and collect it the next day. On the other hand, Best Buy will have late night store openings which is 12:01am ET on June 5. “In addition to fulfilling pre-orders, most stores will have limited inventory of systems, games and accessories for in-store purchase,” the retailer states on its website.

Nintendo has estimated selling 15 million units of the Switch 2 in the fiscal year but analysts believe these are conservative estimates and that it will be more like 20 million units. Considering the console is launching several months into the fiscal year, it is expected to be the biggest console launch ever.
