Honor executive Li Kun has shed new light on the whereabouts of the company's next foldables. Although not officially confirmed yet, Honor is expected to replace the Magic V3 with the Magic V5 rather than the Magic V4. While the Magic V4 may make more sense on the face of it, Chinese numerology suggests that Honor would avoid using '4' despite its usage of the number for the Magic4, Watch 4 and Watch GS 4 series in recent years.
Reiterating a Weibo post from earlier this year, Li Kun is quoted as having committed Honor to releasing the Magic V5 as the 'lightest and thinnest' foldable. If the Magic V5 is to live up to being the thinnest and lightest foldable around, then it must undercut the X Fold3 and Find N5, which currently lead the market at a 219 g weight and an 8.9 mm thickness, respectively.
Not only that, but Honor is anticipated to replace the Magic V3 (curr. $1,660 on Amazon) before its current foldable's first birthday. As it stands, the company seems set on introducing the Magic V5 in June to get the jump on Samsung by a month or so. According to Weibo leaker Experience More, the Magic V5 will combine its rumoured 5,950 mAh battery and 66 W wired charging with an 8-core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Reportedly, the Magic V5 will arrive in 'Silk Road Dunhuang' and 'Velvet Black' colour options too.
