The Honor X series is a range of ~$200 Android smartphones, which boast specs such as 108MP rear cameras despite their price in their latest iteration. Now, the vanilla X70 is backed to ditch the LCD display of its forebear later this year. The OLED replacement might be bigger than that of the X60 Pro, and be kept on with a battery that makes an on-trend upgrade.

The X70 is now projected to have a display of ~6.8 inches in diagonal length, just like that of its predecessor - however, Honor is thought to upgrade that screen to AMOLED, whereas the X60 made do with LCD in late 2024.

It is thought to have the on-trend 1.5K resolution, much like the 6.78-inch X60 Pro. The widely-regarded leaker Digital Chat Station also hints that the X70 will have a battery of at least 7,000mAh in typical capacity, despite being the most vanilla version of its upcoming series.

The X70 might launch alongside its Pro sibling in the fourth quarter of 2024, and might debut with Magic OS 9 out of the box by that time

It will be interesting to see if the successor to the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra-powered X60 can still command its 1,199 yuan (~$167) starting price with its rumored upgrades on its launch.

As for the LCD display, Digital Chat Station heralds this alleged development at Honor as further evidence of its expungement from the Android smartphone market - although it might still be an option for some cost-effective tablets of the future.
