Dreame has launched the L40 Ultra AE robot vacuum and mop in Europe. This is a cheaper version of the original L40 Ultra, which was launched in October 2024. The new version has several differences compared to its predecessor.
Firstly, the L40 Ultra AE appears to have a significantly increased suction power of 19,000Pa rather than 11,000Pa. However, it is unclear whether these measurements are comparable or if they are the result of different types of tests. Another change is that the L40 Ultra AE has a static side brush instead of the extendable and liftable side brush seen on the original. This is likely to impact the robot’s ability to reach into the corners of a room or to sweep along a skirting board.
The L40 Ultra AE is also slimmer at 97 mm (~3.8 inches) tall; the L40 Ultra is 103.8 mm (~4.1 inches) tall, and both are 350 mm (~13.8 inches) wide. The onboard dust container capacity has increased slightly from 300 ml to 395 ml. Plus, the self-cleaning docking station offers hotter 75°C (~167°F) water to clean the mop, which is then dried with hot air. The dock also automatically empties and refills the onboard water tanks as necessary and can be connected to the plumbing in your home with an optional kit.
Otherwise, the L40 Ultra AE and the L40 Ultra appear identical. They are both equipped with a liftable rubber brush and the TriCut brush 3.0, with LDS navigation and camera-based obstacle avoidance technology. The mop can extend thanks to a swing arm and lifts 10.5 mm (~0.4 inches) to avoid wetting a carpet. Both run on a 5200 mAh battery for around three hours of runtime.
You can now buy the Dreame L40 Ultra AE at the brand’s online store or at Amazon for €699.00. This is €200 lower than the €899 RRP of the Dreame L40 Ultra. It is currently available in countries including the Netherlands, Spain and France. Whether or when this model could arrive in other markets like the US remains to be seen. Here, the original L40 Ultra Robot Vacuum is currently available for $599.99 for Amazon Prime members.
