Xiaomi: Cheap smart LED bulb supports Matter and 16 million colors

Lighting is a key component of smart homes, and while Philips Hue by Signify is often the go-to choice, many other manufacturers offer similar products. This includes Xiaomi, which has now launched its new Smart LED Bulb (White and Color) in Europe.

This new smart LED bulb can now be ordered from Xiaomi Germany for a suggested retail price of €12.99 (about $15). Therefore, it’s significantly more affordable than the Philips Hue White & Color Ambiance E27, which currently costs nearly $41 on Amazon. Xiaomi’s new smart LED is defined for E27 sockets, which means that it fits into any fixture that can accommodate a traditional E27 bulb. The LED measures 4.5 x 2.4 inches.

According to Xiaomi, this energy-efficient LED bulb consumes just 8.5 watts and can hit a brightness of up to 806 lumens. Meanwhile, the color temperature can be adjusted between 2700K and 6500K. By combining its primary colors red, green, blue, warm white, and cool white, this LED bulb offers a total of 16 million colors.

Unlike Philips Hue, the Xiaomi Smart LED Bulb (White and Color) does not require a separate hub and sports an integrated WiFi module, which allows it to directly connect to the Xiaomi Home app. Additionally, it comes with Matter support, which means that the Xiaomi smart LED can be integrated into a smart home network with devices from many other brands.
