Xiaomi has launched the Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein Enhanced Edition in China. This new version of the smart lock is said to have next-generation camera technology, as well as ten ways for users to unlock their door. Other features include app notifications for unusual activity and support for HyperOS Connect.

The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein Enhanced Edition has been launched in China. This is an upgraded version of the original Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein device, which launched in this market in May 2024.

As its name suggests, the new Smart Door Lock 2 offers AI finger vein recognition technology, which is said to be suitable for all ages. It uses near-infrared light to recognise a stored finger in under one second, with a 0.0001% error rate. There are nine other ways for users to unlock the door, including fingerprint recognition, a password, an NFC device, or a physical key.

The outer panel of the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein Enhanced Edition has a next-generation 200MP cat eye camera with a 160° viewing angle, and recorded video footage can be stored in the cloud for up to three days. On the inside panel is a large screen to show live video footage. This can also be viewed in the Xiaomi Home app or on linked smart home devices thanks to HyperOS Connect. Through the app, users can receive notifications for unusual activity, like the door being left open or the lock being tampered with. The smart lock has two types of battery, including a 5,000mAh lithium battery, for up to six months of runtime. It measures 399 x 76 x 32 mm (~15.7 x 3.0 x 1.3 inches) and supports Wi-Fi 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5.3.

In China, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein Enhanced Edition will retail for CNY 1,799 (~$250), CNY 500 (~$70) more than the original version cost at launch. It seems unlikely that this smart home product will reach North America or Europe, as Xiaomi has yet to release any smart door locks in these markets. Instead, you could consider a different product which offers fingerprint recognition, like the Aqara Smart Lock U100 (curr. $134.99 at Amazon).
