New Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein Version launches
The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein Version is available to pre-order in China. The original model, the Smart Door Lock 2, launched last August with nine unlocking methods, including a fingerprint scanner. This latest version adds AI finger vein recognition, with images of the veins under the finger’s skin used for increased accuracy.
Xiaomi claims the finger vein recognition technology has a 0.0001% error rate, lower than the 0.001% for the fingerprint scanner. The tool still works in under a second, is suitable for all ages and is said to improve the more you use it. There are ten unlocking methods in total, with others including NFC, password, Bluetooth and a physical key. Like the original mode, the Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein Version features a quieter locking mechanism, with security features like an alarm. You can remotely check the lock’s status in the Xiaomi app, with HyperOS for full smart home integration. Plus, according to Xiaomi, the battery can last for up to one year.
You can pre-order the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein Version in China for the discounted price of 1,299 yuan (~$180) with a 100 yuan (~$14) deposit. After this pre-sale period, the product is expected to retail for 1,499 yuan (~$205).
