Xiaomi launches new BE5000 Wi-Fi 7 router with mesh support
The Xiaomi Router BE5000 has been launched in China. The new product is said to support the Wi-Fi 7 protocol, with theoretical speeds up to 5,011 Mbps, though only 2.4GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands are listed. According to Xiaomi, compared to Wi-Fi 6, the throughput and speed are 68% and 48% better, respectively.
As the BE5000 is compatible with Wi-Fi 7, it has Multi-Link Operation (MLO), which allows simultaneous connection to both frequency bands. This should provide greater stability and reduced latency, particularly across longer distances. Xiaomi also lists Xrange 2.0 technology to reduce latency and enhance coverage, with a 4.5 m (~14.8 ft) signal coverage area. For physical connections, there is one 2.5G and three Gigabit network ports. Other features include Xiaomi HyperOS Connect for smart home integration, support for mesh Wi-Fi systems and a built-in game accelerator.
The router has five antennas, with the white device measuring 271.9 x 40.9 x 220.8 mm (~10.7 x 1.6 x 8.7 inches). You can now pre-order the Xiaomi Router BE5000 in China for 279 yuan (~$40). Whether or when Xiaomi could launch the product in other markets like Europe, where it already sells models like the AX3000, remains to be seen.
