Xiaomi BE6500: Fast WiFi 7 router with 2.5G ports launches at a relatively low price
WiFi 7 is a wireless transmission standard that has not just been around since yesterday, but as usual, there is a lack of corresponding devices at the start. This is now also gradually changing on the router side, with new devices of various price and performance classes gradually coming onto the market. With the BE6500, Xiaomi is offering a new router based on the current transmission standard.
The Xiaomi BE6500 router supports a data transfer rate of up to 3.57 Gbps. However, the system only uses the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, but users should still benefit from a higher connection quality. Specifically, according to Xiaomi, the projector should offer 358 percent better transmission over long distances compared to WiFi 6 systems - this is particularly relevant when used in large apartments or houses. The Xiaomi BE6500 supports OFDMA, which should improve the connection even with multiple end devices and high speeds. For very large areas, the creation of a mesh network is supported, allowing up to ten compatible routers to be combined into one network. As a rule, this can effectively eliminate blind spots in network coverage, for example, and a mesh network makes it unnecessary to (manually) change the WiFi network.
According to the manufacturer, the BE6500 can also be used to establish a high-speed wired network. Four adaptive Ethernet ports with a maximum data transfer rate of 2.5 Gbit/s are available for this purpose. Control should be possible via the Xiaomi Mi Home app or voice commands, and integration into the smart home is advertised. In China, the model is offered at a price of just under 64 euros, information on the price or availability in Europe is not yet available. Xiaomi also offers global models of its routers, but there is often a delay in their release.
