Ford Mustang Mach-E beats Lucid Air efficiency for the longest range from a production electric car
Using dedicated EV tires with low rolling resistance, a RWD Ford Mustang Mach-E has managed to travel 570 miles (917 km) on a single charge of its 91 kWh battery.
The achievement has now been included in the Guinness World Records book and verified via video, odometer readings, GPS positioning, and battery level measurements by the test organizers from Webfleet.
The route covered both urban and rural roads for a more representative mix, and the Mustang Mach-E returned jaw-dropping efficiency of under 17 kWh per 100 miles covered.
Ridden by hypermiler drivers with more such records under their belt, Ford's electric SUV even managed to run another 35 miles while the battery indicator was showing zero percent charge.
The record is touted as the longest range on a charge achieved from a production electric car. It's not clear where does that leave NIO, which recently completed a 650-mile range test with its own production ET7 sedan.
That one, however, has a much larger, 150 kWh semi-solid state battery to begin with, so the Mach-E is still ahead in terms of range for a unit of battery capacity.
Lucid recently bragged with the "most energy-efficient and sustainably-powered vehicle ever made" as its 2025 Lucid Air Pure is rated for 5 miles of range per kWh of battery capacity.
The Mustang Mach-E, however, managed to go more than 6 miles on kWh of battery, so it would be interesting if the hypermilers did a similar real-world range test with the Lucid Air Pure, too.
